Jody I would be looking for some one in the sac. area to do the repair the freight to socal would kill you with hazmat charges . jay
Very nice condition car. I watched that online. I have a '69 that seems to have been a near identical twin when new. The owner piled more than 8K miles on it however and it ended up being painted white and had a few other changes. Nice looking car collection. Welcome to the board. I'll definitely be checking locally tomorrow. I do have a good friend who owns a large auto dismantler, and he ships tanks daily. He knows how to get it there without getting killed with the charges. Jody
Jody, You might want to try Highlands Radiator over on Elkhorn Blvd in North Highlands. Let me know what you find out. I also have a 70 with the drop in tank that needs to be cleaned out. Where at in Wilton are you? My sister lives out there off of Alta Mesa & LaClair. I am over in the Vintage Park area near Vintage Park & Elk Grove Florin Rd. You gotta take that care out to Mel's or Burger junction this Summer. PS: You might want to check JB Radiator over off of Florin Perkins Road & Specialty Circle.
WOW!!!! Very cool car. All 70 Mavericks had a drop in tank. I would just get that one repaired. Thats too nice of a car to do a conversion on.
Those are amazing pictures for sure. Your car is absolutly identical in every way to how my 69.5 came off of the assembly line so many years ago. It could be it's twin. Just don't paint it flat black, with a brush, and stripe it with yellow parking lot paint like the last owner of my car did. Your's looks much better the way it is. LOL!!
Did someone mention Power Tour??? That would be awesome!! I had planned on going this year, but as plans always do, mine changed.. Good luck and keep us posted!!
definitely doing Power Tour, as I have already paid for the flights and hotels. I went in 05 for the long haul, and it was a blast. I had planned on taking my twin turbo Chevelle (sorry!) but it looks like it won't be done in time. So I picked up this Maverick and will take it instead. Jody
Yes, Radiator Specialties on Florin-Perkins can clean them and do minor repairs. They were not comfortable repairing mine but tanked it for me. I ended up finding a good used tank from a member here, just in time to sell the car! There phone number is (916) 383-0922 Jody
I just saw this.. you are doing the power tour this year? I was thinking of doing a couple of legs in my Maverick too. They love grungy budget cars. Confused though.. you said you're taking the Maverick but have paid for flights?
well, the flights are to get there and back. I'm in California so a drive to Cleveland and back from Arkansas would be tough after doing 1600+ miles on the tour. The Chevelle will likely go, and I've now decided to sell the Maverick.
Cool, they are just down the street from me at work and are also a customer of mine. I asked their maintenance guy for their water treatment one time about this and he said they didn't do this kind of thing. Glad to hear they will at least clean it. I need mine cleaned before I can weld on my Competition Engineering sump on my tank. Thanks for the info. Sorry to hear you sold or are selling your Maverick. Make sure to tell the new buyer about the site.
