Well like the title says, I have recently joined the club. The elite V8 only club! This past weekend, I dropped in the 302 into our 70 all by my lonesome with a tidbit of help from a family friend, not my dad. Anyway, earlier tonight, i finally got to start it up open headers and all! What a feeling. Anyway, yea little old me all sixteen of my years swapped in a 302!! ok that is enough gloating! -Todd:bananaman :bananaman :bananaman :bananaman
todd, congrats!nothing like the feeling of a job well done.what headers are you running, and any interference problems?have fun with the v-8. chuck. :bananaman
The headers were hooker comp 6901. they fit in perfectly from the bottom!!! they are awesome. worth every penny. I definately recommend them to anybody. -Todd
where are they aval?local parts store, summit or auto krafters.i've heard so many horror stories of companies claiming that they're headers for the maverick fit,and ended up not even close.
They are available from Summit. A little advise, if your car is kept outside or is the daily driver type, the ceramic coating is not worth the extra money. It will not last more than a few months before they start rusting.
That is disapointing to hear that the ceramic coating is crappy. A friend has some ceramic coated JBA headers that are 7 years old and look brand new. Too bad JBA dosnt make headers for are cars.
Todd, congrats! Can't wait to hear what you say about the comparison of the 302 to the i-6 when you take it out for a drive! Keep us updated, are putting in a floor shifter as well?
the ceramic coating is not worth the extra money. It will not last more than a few mo Jet-Hot gives a lifetime warranty on new headers they coat, 3 year warranty on old, refurbished headers. It was amazing how my 14 year old pieces looked when I got them back. We'll see how long they last. It's been a year and a half now.
Jet-hot used to do the coating for JBA. And My friends headers look new after 7 years. The dipstick would rub on the header, I saw some rust where it was rubbing. I figured the dipstick wore through the coating and caused the header to rust. Not the case, metal from the dipstick wore off and rusted but a wipe with a rag and the rust was gone and there was no damage to the header. The coating was intact.
No, i never got around to snapping pics. It isnt that pretty, just a used nice low mileage engine to start with. -Todd
