Anybody use one of these? Looks nice, but expensive! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OBX-...TANK-CHROME_W0QQitemZ8011509378QQcmdZViewItem What have others used for a reservoir tank? I know this subject has been discussed, but I did not have any luck searching.... Also, this subject got me to thinking about installing an electric fan. I think some have said that the Ford Taurus fan works pretty well, any other suggestions. Anything special need to be modified electrical wise (can the system support the electrical draw with modifications?) Does a thermostat "need" to be installed to switch it on and off, or just have it run all the time? Thanks for any tips! Art
seems pretty cheap to me considering what a plastic puke tank will run you thru jegs or sumnmit. on your fan thing,... I'd run it on a thermostat myself.
Just go to one of the chain auto parts stores and get a universal plastic reservoir tank kit. They look factory, are easy to mount, work just fine, and are pretty cheap. They also come with the bracket and hose to hook it up. Later,
I installed the plastic tank and it looks bad next to the vintage engine bay. If you plan to drag at the strip then you will need the tank but if not just let the overflow pour out on the ground.
i like the coffee pot look where you can see how full it is . i don't know what this means, but he says it fits most sport compacts.
I used a $18 puke bottle in my '77. Here are some pics. I routed the overflow hose through the fender panel.
That price looks good, and appears to be quality built. I used PVC, but might snag one of those if I have some $$$ left over this week. See below, painted black, almost disappears in the engine bay. Need to use better mounting, I know...
If you have ac, you don't have room. I just tried one from NAPA and AutoZone the smallest ones they have and they can't be wedged between the washer tank, horn and support, 2 ac lines running there. Do like the idea of mounting it in up under/inside the fender side behind the light...might relook into that suggestion... What is the best type of hose to use?
I am using 3/8" fuel line. I drilled a hole in the top screw-in cap that was tight enough that the hose is pinched a little, but still slides in and out with a little force. That way, it won't pop out. Seems to be working fine. Used to overheat a lot before I swapped radiators and fans. I would just take the tank out, dump it, and put it back in.
Does anybody remember what the one in the original post looked like? Since then, I have installed a nice stainless tank and gotten rid of the pvc one. It was only $50-ish.
