ok guys my name is Anthony I currently just purchased a 1975 Ford maverick. I was told it was a grabber but i checked the body code that says its a 62a(that aint a grabber). none the less the car is beautiful 3 small rust parts about the size of a silver dollar on passenger side comes with the 250 and it runs! all for $400 bucks now my question is i thought mavericks only had 4lug the maverick iam looking at has 5 lug drums all the way around i've done some searching can anyone shed some light for me?
you can always check the third and fourth digits of the VIN. if they read '93' it's a grabber, but if they read '91' then it's just a 2 door sedan. see for yourself.... http://home.comcast.net/~petebre/maverick/decode/1975.html
some mavs had 4 lugs some had 5, mine has 5 i think there is a year or model split where they switched that
also note: mavericks used 4 lug on 6 cylinder cars built 70-72(and some early 73 models) and from 73-77 mavericks all had 5 lug. in 70-72 only V8 cars and some and very few 250 6 cylinder cars had the 5 lug as well. also, mavericks started having disc brakes as standard equipment in late '75 & was an option in 74-75. in 1976 and on into '77, all mavericks had disc brakes in the front. hope this helps ya
welcome to the board. many people think they have grabbers when they really just have a regular maverick. guess it's wishful thinking. or trying to embellish the sale. no matter what $400 is a great price for any maverick in decent condition.
it really is i will take some pics for you guys. i'm gonn start a timeline on this thing i hoe to have it competely finished by august. like i said it has a 250 in it. but i just ordered a crate 302 to put in it
