daughter's crewchief...72 maverick

I am the crewchief for my daughter's 1972 Maverick. 302, c4, 2 door.....
What can you do when your 4.0 student says "Dad I don't want a Tempo..."
The car belong to family friends who completed the most of the rebuild on the car, body work, rebuilt engine, Now I have the job of finishing it and build a safe daily driver/////.

Here is the daughter's Maverick:

 

When my daughter saw the 75 Comet I was buying, I knew it wouldn't be mine! It was 62,000 original miles, garage kept so it's in real nice condition. Just had a couple of rods slung out each side of the motor, even the A/C compressor had rods out the side. So, it has no A/C, and she drove it the entire summer and never complained. I even tried trading her for my 97 F150, and gave her other newer choices. This year it's time for my son to drive, his choice? A Honda!! Need to get a test done on that one, I don't think he's mine. Still hurts that she drives a nicer one than my Maverick, and she's fixing to take it over too, for bracket racing this year.

 

nice car. my daughter also picked a maverick for her car. i hope its not just to impress the boys.

 

I know the feeling...am the crew chief, technician, driver/chauffer, and builder of my Dog's Maverick...





I cannot leave the house with the car or she will whine and paw at the door, and just drive my wife nuts. Can't even work on the car without either putting her in the car first (as in the picture) or opening the garage-to-house door and putting a dog-gate up so she can watch and be part of the project.

Of course, if I had a kid, he/she would probably be the same way.

Encourage it. Not all are lucky enough to have kiddos, especially ones that are into your cars with you

Howdy and to the board......These little cars are very dependable.....My '71 will start at times when my '04 won't.

 

welcome to the board. congratulations on having a smart daughter. i've got 4 mavericks and i need to start fixing them up for the grandaughters. the 8 yr old has already told me the grabber i race is hers.

Thanks for the welcome folks.
It is a little strange to look at a Maverick and the first thoughts are 4 wheel disk brakes and better seat belts, instead of 347 stroker, FI, paxton /T5 and a 3.55 rear end. Ah the joys of parenthood in the unheated gargage.
