Hi everyone. I think I found a good Maverick support group. I'm in North Carolina and don't see any Mavericks on street around here. I owned a Maverick high school that I thought was really cool. Unfortunately the facts of life caused me to sell it when I was 19. I'm 39 now and able to play again. This past summer I bought a 72 Grabber. It's in pretty bad shape, but it's going to be fun to restore. I had no idea that finding parts were going to be as had as it's been. I look foward to gaining knowledge from other members. Hope I remember my password. LOL

Hey, another NC guy,...cool. I'm in Fayetteville area and I'm currently out hunting 351W conversion / modified Mavs. Darrel, what area are you from? You can reach me at dkratz@nc.rr.com too if you'd like!

I'm still working my wife pretty hard to give in to the idea of another metal sled around here, hehehe! The two maniacs who posted before me are SUPER helpful and I'm glad to say I'm on this board. I've gotten a ton of excellent info from them already! I think they are true fanatics and that's not a bad thing, eh? I can't wait to find my bargain basement Shelby, (snicker), and thanks guys!

Thanks for the greetings! I like your "Shelby" treatment on the back of your unit. Is the car named Eileen or is that your name?

I'm actively trying to find a Maverick in great shape and I'm hot to trot to drop in a 351W / C-4 set up. I'm just so gased at the way the cars catch your eye and the interior very much reminds me of my youth banging around in a 1967 mustang. The FORD trim look is so familiar somehow,....you know what I mean. I think I might do that accent of the tail lights on mine too when I finally get one. These cars can become bargain basement Shelby Cobras in a heartbeat with a 351W in them, eh?

Did you tweak the tail lights yourself? I'd love to see some pictures of that area for my own reference for later projects. If you'd like to share some images, you can send them to dkratz@nc.rr.com. My name is Dave Kratz and I'm an old fart of 51 who at my age still has a serious lust for fast cars. Now that I'm retired from the ARMY, I have the time "tweak" a motor or two. I'm right near FT BRAGG, (home of the 82 Airborne and US ARMY Special Forces), so you can imagine just how many nasty mustangs are out there that need to be spanked by a nice "pocket rocket-bargain basement Shelby" of my own design. Do I smell nitrous oxide? hehehe!
    Later,
    Dave, aka TROG

Trog, Concord is just north of Charlotte. I see your wanting to put a 351 in a Maverick also. I've been reading header horror stories in the forums. Keep me posted on what you find out. I just post a question about using a sanderson header. I didn't read anything in pervious threads about them.

    You bet Darrel,
I just got back from spending an hour hanging out with my favorite mechanic. The place is this lovely hole in the wall on the outskirts of Fayetteville and the guy has decades of experience. Wouldn't you know it but the other mechanic he just hired owns a grabber that he's had for over 26 years. He put in a different engine and his wife loves it. Guess what he put in...

A complete rebuild Shelby Cobra 289 that turns 345 hp. certified. WOW...this is option No. 2 in my book. I'll let you know how this car pans out. Something about this car adds up funny and I'll just have to sniff around it for awhile and drive it!
