so i want a little more get up and go with my comet. i already have a 4 brl carb and intake to go on it and am currently looking for early windsor heads 69-71 from the junk yard. don't have money to spend on a good set of aluminum heads so i'm going for the better heads off the earlier engine. so i was wondering though what cam should i use. i would like to know a rpm range on it. i will mostly be driving it for fun on the street durring the summer. no more winter driving for my car. well maybe just a little down the street when it snow i a parking lot. i wonder how many times can my car spin? well any help would be well apreciated.

If you want a smooth idle find an RV cam with 204 I and 214 E. at .050" lift. Do a gasket matching port job on the heads and you can get 350 HP from your 351 W with flat top pistons. The rpm range is going to be 5500 RPM. A good dual plane intake manifold and a 600 to 720 CFM four barrel carb with vacuum secondaries will make it easy to drive on the street without limiting your track performance. NOTE: this is not a killer race engine - it is a well mannered street performer.

I have many sets of the 69 - 71 heads. I also have a few sets of 63 - 66 289 heads. If you are willing to pay for shipping I could make you a good deal on a set. I think the lkast set I shipped were about $40 a piece. Let me know. Just make shure that when you buy your cam that it is for a 351W/302HO firing order. If you want to convert it to roller a B or F cam work rellly well.

I have a set with a spare. How big of hurry are you in? I'll be home in early April. I live in St. George and will be coming up to Ogden then also. Cam wise, a 214-218@.050 int. dur with .440"-.465" lift. Anything more then that and it will start to be no fun to drive. IMO bigger is not better here. If it's an auto you can still use a stock convertor.
