Hey I just found a 75 comet 2door with a straight six in a junkyard that has the full powersteering setup. What do I need to know to pull it and place it in my 72 mav that currently does not have power steering. Is it even possible? Any help would be appreciated. ASAP.

Yes, it's very doable. Get the centerlink, idler arm, pitman arm, slave cylinder, pump, hoses, pulleys off the front of engine and all brackets associated with the p/s. Get everything you think you may need. Better to get it now all at one time.

Just FYI, you are one of the few who want to swap FROM manual TO power. Many of us are going back to manual because of the sloppy play in the old Ford power systems.

But, if you want it, it is an easy swap.

I alot of the stuff I just took off, if you cannot find it all.

I have the power center link and all tie rod ends, recently rebuilt pump (I cracked the pulley today taking the brackets off to sell to another member). I also have the little in-line fluid cooler. Center link has a fairly new remanufactured power valve installed. If you are going to do this, I would get all new joints/tie rods, and a new pitman arm. Autozone sells them all and they aren't too expensive.

I'm going to pick up the parts today no matter what.....I just want to know if everything on my 72 will be ready for it...i.e. do I have to drill any holes in the A arms? or modify anything else?....I haven't had a chance to look yet.

1 problem your gonna run into is mounting the "slave cylinder" mounting bracket to frame...ford used rivnuts up in the frame and thats how you bolted to slave cylinder bracket to frame...these rivnuts ARE NOT being made right now...i called AMK....thats what they told me.....and theres no way to weld it because the bracket is cast iron, and u cant weld cast iron to steel....

Is that the only known problem I will run into?

The crushnuts are available from National Parts Depot...Part#375474-S8.

They are $9.30 each and 2 are required. They are the same for a Mustang.
