the last couple of pics look like the outlet is closer to the trans compared to the other pics look closer to the steering box? maybe im wrong but it does look that way, are the last couple of pics headers that were built in production or pre production?

    Pictures can be misleading sometimes...

The pictures that I posted are of the prototype headers on Jayman's car. The prototypes are fixtured and then produced off of the prototypes I built. There is no difference between the protoype and the finished product. I personally see the first run all the way through the process, It's part of my job as new product development.

I have a solution planned out, I'm mocking up a piece in PVC (easy to cut and glue) to get an idea, it bassically consists of a bunch of 15 deg angles in an "s" bend, and so far, it clears, everything, without choking the pipe down much

All right, Jamie asked me to clear up this dillemma, there is room to make the exhaust work, but I'm in an area (AKA New Jersey(central at that)) and no one likes speed shops here. Exhaust shops for me are few and far between if its not midas or mineke, and I played that game already and refuse to go back because the idiots taht work at these around here don't know squat about custom installations. The purpose of this thread was to see if my car was twisted in some way, not to give the Thorley headers a hard time. They fit, as where the hookers I tried were garbage. I have a solution worked out, mocked up, it was not difficult to figure out, and I'm no rocket scientist. I'm going to take my plastic mock up, make it in metal, make sure it still works, and them try to locate someone with a bender, however, I can't drive my car as far as I would need to to bring it to the shop. These headers are our best shot, there will be no crushing the pipe to make them clear the arm, you just need to get the pipe above the arm, and if a 24yr old can figure it out, laying in the mud, you guys will not have a problem

I have bent alot of exhaust. It didnlt look like a problem to me but pics can be decieving. They make welders, benders, and torches for a reason. Glad it will work out for all involved. The Maverick community rocks. Jamie is a hell of a guy. He put hi neck out for us all. Doug Thorley wouldn't have done this otherwise. (y)

    Got that right!

I have played 'devils advocate' throughout this thread, I hope my observations weren't taken as anything other than constructive criticisim.
I get carried away sometimes! :slap:

    Dave,

As a great man named Earl Branham mentioned to me, in a thread I was bit strong minded in. It's great to get different opinions and views even if it's not the same or what we wanted to hear(as long as it is not a personal attack) It's all good. We all learn from each other. This place was started by a group of good natured, true maverickers and the trend continues today(well most of us:evilsmile ;))

Shaun, get your mockup made, then mail or ups it to mavowar. Sounds like he should be able to make the proper bends and make it look and work good. Somebody that has experience with custom bends like that and a Maverick lover too can't be anything but a plus. [ Hows that for a good endorsment, Lance? ]

Problems? Ya, I guess taking your car to a muffler shop can be a real problem  .

If you had hooker long tubes and decided to change over to hedman long tubes would you not still have to go to a muffler shop? The answer is yes because no two manufactures are the same.

BTW, I have built many long tube headers as well, Nothing against them at all. I felt that our community, as well as other ford communities, wanted a nice shorty header. So that's what I built, for "us".
