hi--I am the proud second owner of a car that was my late grandmothers'. as she had Alzheimers, the miles are low. Under 50,000. and it has a V8. and an intact vinyl top. but I live in MA and have rusted floor and trunk pans. the outer body needs work too. everyone here does crashes instead of restoration. someplace in Ohio sells repro 1/4 pans on ebay they say go with the 71 comet. could it be? I need help, references and guides. I am not even sure how to search site archives. thanks. Celeste
welcome to the board. i don't know about anyone that sells repo floors for mavs or comets. that would be nice. to search the archives just click on the "search" above and type in what you are looking for. good luck.
Nobody makes Floor pans .... have to either cut them from a solid car, fab them yourself or use modified Mustang pans. The 1/4 panels being sold are not full panels ... just 1/4 skins ... much different install technique. If the car is near and dear to you get a set of NOS 1/4's ... there is one on eBay now for $400 ... every once in a while they pop up for sale. If you plan on keeping the car NOS is the way to go. The Trunk will also need to be cut from a solid car or fabbed. I understand the car has sentimental value but only you can decide if it's worth all the time and $$$ to repair it .. Good luck ..
Nah, but a close second. 69 1/2's are the best, because they have the ignition switch on the package tray. Now, a '71 with '69 1/2 ignition switch would be perfect. I wish I had the parts to convert all my cars to the '69 1/2 ignition switch, I absolutely love mine.
okay...what is NOS? sorry. I know that NIP is new in package and NWT is new with tags. I am female. the 1/4 floor pan things I saw were listed on eBay too. cheers, Celeste
thank you kindly. chances are if you're in ME, all the comets you see will also have rust underneath, but if you find something that has only been garaged that would be great.
NOS stands for New Old Stock, Unused original Ford parts that have been sitting somewhere for a long time.
