Will the front disk brakes from a futura/fairmont work on a Maverick?
I know a Granadas will and I think they are the same platform.
    Thanks
    Cary

Nope....futura is a fox platform.....plus it is 4-lugs that doesn't match the 4-lug Maverick pattern.

The Fairmont was the first ever Fox body...

Yes. They came out in '77 as a '78 year model. The front suspension (K member to hubs) are almost identical to the early (up to '84) Mustangs. Rear suspension is also nearly identical. The Futuras are great candidates for a drag car; and I wouldn't mind having one for a street sleeper. Came with either a 2.3 4 cylinder (yes, in that BIG car....)/4 speed or a 250 6 cylinder. I believe the later ones came with 302's as well. I'd like to have one with a 2.3. Dads originally had a 250 but now sports a 347/C4.

The legendary Bob Glidden won a LOT of races in a Fairmont!

They also came with a 255CI V8. Looks kinda like a 302 but it isnt. I had one that I had built into a grag car but someone had to have it more than I did so I sold it for a mighty large profet. They are very light for thier size and do have very good weight transfer. Mine was a Mercury Zepher. Same body style, kinda like a Mavrick to Comet thing.

I like the Fairmonts also. My wife had a nice one we built for her from the ground up
Then someone ran a red light and totalled it out. Now we are building her a clone of the original...but better.

You can check it out on my website.

Thanks for the info I had seen an ad for a cheap fairmont and was thinking I might get it if the brakes would work on my mav.

Oh well I will just have to keep looking.

Always liked the LTD front end over the Fairmont one. We have a 86 LTD II Wagon.
