I have a 1970 Ford maverick 6cyl everything on it is OEM

And I went to go drive it one day and I found out the blinkers wont

Work I took a look at the light for the blinkers/flashers and they are all

Good so I thought it was maybe just an old fuse so I replaced it and it blew as soon you turned the key. I drove it from CA to OK about a month ago. And my dad took a look at it and he thought it mite be bad wiring so I tracked it all down and there were no worn throw spots or anything. so I thought it mite be the flasher under the dash so I thought that would be the cheapest thing to try so I replaced it and but a new fuse in it and started the car it did not blow the fuse this time but as soon as I went to back out of the driveway the fuse blue the moment I turned the steering wheel is that the blinker switch inside the steering coulomb? It so ware can I get one to replace it?

MIGHT be your turn signal cam

but it wouldnt blow a fuse , just a plastic piece

i say raise your radiator cap up and slide the car out and slide new car in and reinstall the radiator cap:)

did you check the wireing in the column? you may have a wire grounding in the column.

The steering wheel has probally grounded a hot wire in the turn signal switch...Youll need to remove your steering wheel to see these wires. But before you remove the steering wheel.....Right above brake pedal, on the steering column is the connetor for the signal switch. Unplug it and then turn steering wheel with the key on....Does the fuse blow now?

If you wind up pulling the switch from the column attach a heavy string to the lower connector before pulling it out. You can then use the string to pull it back into the column upon reassembly.

I think Eddie' suggestion is the best yet. In fact, it should work for most of our problems :D

Have you checked the blinker fluid? I recently read a post on the board here about blinker fluid that was good for 1,500,000 blinks. That should last a lot further than the end of the driveway....:D

    j/k

Hotrod_Daddy has given good advice that will probably helpo you identify the problem.:)

they dont make mavs anymore, remember? you would have to settle for a lesser vehicle under that radiator cap and be further behind on your repair work.
