It does not say this is a Grabber, although it claims it has original paint which I do not believe. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6057&item=2433750511 Did the stripe package come on non-Grabbers? Seth
.02 worth The Grabber was a trim option, that is identifiable by the VIN# and trim code of 93 / 62D in that order. The paint scheme on this vehicle etc. looks like a Grabber, but no Grabber hood, but this car is a 1970 which is why it would not have a Grabber hood if it is a Grabber. At first looks, I would say it may be a Grabber. One thing about this vehicle, first the seller list the VIN# as ok91t319709. The VIN# tells us it is a 1970, and the VIN# is a 91 instead of 93, but I do not think they used the 93 to destinguish a 2 door sedan from a Grabber in 1970. I know they used on the 1971 models and up. I hope this helps a little. I am sure Craig who has owne a 1970 Grabber himself or someone else on the board may be able to help you out a little more on the 70' Grabber. Good luck!
I think its a 70 Grabber as it has the spoiler on the trunk, black interior and bench seats. 70 Grabbers had the regular hood, and the 93 in the vin only started in 1971.
The 70 grabbers have a stock flat hood (no scoops). But is the paint wrong on the spoiler? I thought the black was just on the rear portion of the spoiler and end caps? It looks like the whole spoiler and end caps are painted. Russ
I believe the car to be a Grabber, and also think that the paint scheme and striping to be correct for 1970. Dan
That is a grabber, 70s didnt have the spoiler on back. the guy put it on himslef, hence the whole thing being black. I dont remember off the top of my head about his picture, but if the taillight bezels are polished and the panel is black it is correct for a 70 grabber. -Todd
According to maverickgrabber.com , 1970 Grabbers had the spoiler http://www.geocities.com/cping3/70Grabber.html
The car appears to be a 1970 Grabber. The only thing that throws me off is that the entire rear spoiler is painted black...not just the rear. He states that the paint is original, so I don't see how this could be. Also, the interior looks to not be original. The vinyl looks to be "smooth" instead of having a texture or pattern to it. Otherwise, it has the stripes, mirrors, black grill and headlite doors, and rear spoiler that were all found on a 1970 Grabber. As someone else stated, the 1970 Grabbers did not have a VIN designation. Craig Selvey 1970 Ford Maverick Grabber Registry
Just curious Under what circumstances or conditions did Ford put the all black tailight bezels on the Mavericks? I think I may have seen it on the Stallions and some Grabbers, but not all Grabbers with the all black tail-light panel. I realize the tail-light panels that were painted a different color other than black had the chrome bezels, which makes sense. This one for instance had the tail-light panel painted black, but has the chrome tail-light bezels on the painted black tail-light panel. or is just another example of how Ford did things differently at different plants etc. or different year makes were different?
All 1970 Grabbers had a black rear panel with chrome bezels around the tail-lights. My 1972 Grabber had a black tail panel with black bezels around the tail-lights. I have seen it both ways on 1971-1972 Grabbers.
