Has anyone had success with any specific brand or part number?

I am currently looking at JEGS

    and

Price isn't too much different, and you can see I am trying to get the fan to come on at 185-ish and I do NOT want a stick-in probe. I want one that screws into the water passage on the manifold, or somewhere in direct contact with water.

I have a Griffin 22X19 radiator and a fan/shroud from a Taurus, or something like that. Fan is currently running on a relay, but is always on after I turn the key to START.

It runs way too cool for way too long, but once it hits 180, it stays there, or within a couple degrees +/-. Right where I want it. But I don't want the fan running all the time.

Also, I notice my alternator puts out 13 volts with the fan on, and a healthy 14 when it is off, so the more it is off the better.

I recently purchased the one you have listed first. Quite pleased with it, no problems here.

I'm using a flex-o-lite control..works well but I installed a switch also. I only wanted the fan to keep running(when car was off) when I'm at the track to cool it down between rounds.

I see you don't want a bulb sensor type but I use that type for fan control of an aux trans cooler and towing application with great success.
The thermostat is fully adjustable from about 100 to over 200° and in less than $20.
I have it set at 180. The benifits is gives is auto control without any futher switching and runs about 5 to 7 min after the motor shut down. This cools the engine bay much faster in addition when not towing and in cooler weather it never come on.
The 8" fan and thermostat costs about $85.

If using this thermostat on hi current draw fans over 15 amps, a relay is a must.
