I was getting a 1986 LTD/Crown Vic ready to go to the junck man today and I got a thought. What parts off this car will be good to retro to a Mav? I had a brain storm and came up with a very easy and cheep upgrade for our cars. The car had a electric trunk release and I was wondering if I could adapt it to a Mav. Well the answer is yes. I took the trunk latch out of the trunk lid on the LTD and took it over to the 75 parts car I am almost done stripping for the parts. I took the old latch out and tried to fit the 86 electric latch in. The latch mount needs a little mod but not much. I got it to fit and low and behold the bolt holes are the same (but it only uses 2 of the bolt holes not all 3) and it bolted right in. I closed the trunk and it latched. I then adjusted the latch so the trunk would close tight and WHOOOOO HOOOO!!!!!!!!! You can use the stock lock and everything works fine. All you have to do then is run the wires from the front to the latch and there ya go, a electric trunk release for very low dollars. You could even use the stock button if you wanted to. Just thought I would pass this along. I know I have been thinking of how to do this for some time now. Don
Try a Thunderbird one. The electric latches from 83 thru 88 Thunderbirds are a direct bolt on. That was the first cool mod I put on my car. I cut the switch from the glove box out also and mounted it under my dash, by the e-brake.
