Looking at this pic, it does appear to be too far out. Usually they are shiny on the part that spends it's time inside the seal and rusty brown on the part that is outside the seal. Therefore it appears to be out too far. If your frame mounts are biased to the rear, you should be right.
Mine is a bit short as I have a fox body aluminum shaft in mine. No problems except once. I will tell you at the cook out as it wasn't the shaft's fault and I donlt want to lose any respect around these parts
i'll be there filled up the coolant today, put some trans fluid in, finished up my ignition system, going to try to finish the rest of the wiring tomorow, hook up my shifter and maybe try to get it running
did you measure the tailshaft right behind the trans mount to see if there are any different between the the old trans and new one
My 4dr. has a dust boot and all of the shiny part of your yoke would be inside the boot. It looks like yours was before too.
i used my old driveshaft... i went from a i6 3spd manual to a 302 c-4 and the old shaft worked fine... the c-4 and the 3 speed are the same length.. i had them standing on bellhousings next to each other to verify it when i did the conversion,... the tci tranny might be a little shorter do you still have the old tranny to compare it to? i am wondering if maybe you have the engine mounts on backwards... that might explain why the engine is hugging the fire wall... mine is not that close... but if that was the case, you would have more of a gap... there is something amiss thats for sure.. time to start meauring your setup
