All the intakes I have used had the stock throttle cable bracket, then later ones added on an aftermarket Edelbrock bracket. I used that after/Edel bracket to bend and shape to fit whatever else was placed on there. Worked with a Demon double pumper, and my Edel 600cfi. If you just loosen the bolts a bit, line things up, maybe even dril and tap a new hole, you should be able to "adapt" your linkage to that manifold.

Example...when I went Edel Performer 289 to Torker 289 (NOT Torker II), I had to "massage" the bracket with some pliers to get the correct angle of attack. Has worked well since then.

Dan, I got my intake used from eBay, so no triangular bracket. The bracket I purchased was this one: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=EDL-1490&N=700+115&autoview=sku

I thought that it would be all I would need. However, I've tried every which way possible, and I can see no practical way to use it either by itself or with the existing bracket.

Hmmm ... I don't see the part I am talking about available seperately either .... I'll take a picture tomorrow so you have an idea of how it works with the Edelbrock supplied mount ...

Quite often their will be a large vacuum fitting on the back of Holleys that will hit the bracket.

OK ... here is a quick picture I just snapped of how the adapter that comes with a new intake works. It's underneath the stock bracket so hard to see ...

It is triangle shaped with a hole in each corner. Two of the holes are used to bolt the adapter to the Edelbrock intake ... one of these holes is shared with the factory bracket. The other hole of the factory bracket then bolts to the remaining hole on the adapter .... make sense?

Here is the picture of it installed ... in the picture the bolts at 6 o'clock and 1 o'clock are attached to the intake. The bolt at nine o'clock attaches the factory bracket to the adapter and is not bolted in the intake.

My f4b had the fitting for the factory throttle setup. Installed it zillion years ago. Now going to use a performer intake on the 71.Have not built a Mav for myself since my Stallion, and it is bascially a work in progress, never done. (God, over 30 years) Good info guys thanks. Just using existing parts to put this car together. Will adapt and let you know how I do it.

Hmmmm....thanks a bunch for posting the pics Dan. That bracket is almost elegant in its simplicity. Maybe I can fab up something similar, I'll have to see how ambitious I feel. I take it the non-shared hole is countersunk so the bolt doesn't interfere with the factory bracket? Again, thanks.

Yes it is countersunk ... although apparantly I didn't have the correct bolt in there initially since I hacked my bracket a little ... :)

    Update...finally!

Well, I got my throttle cable attached properly, finagled a used bracket (no charge) from the tech department at Edelbrock, they were very helpful considering I didn't buy either the intake or carb new. Just got a couple other lingering issues, but it's driveable.

Need to work something out for the kickdown rod, and haven't found a proper air cleaner stud, so I turned the stud for the stock air cleaner upside down and put on a nut and washer. If I can't find anything else I'll just cut some 1/4" threaded rod to fit. The air cleaner is a Torino unit I found on eBay, I swapped the snorkel onto it from the stock air cleaner.
