Part of the reason that the same date was chosen was simply that Owensboro is the back up plan for the gathering if all else fails. Those dates were already reserved. Although that is the last resort, as the MCG is working on a another location and it is possible the dates will be altered. In my conversastions with John he has never lead me to believe this has been about competeing with the MCCI. It just so happens this first year is a bit fly by the moment. Those dates where the obvious choice, until next year when things have settled down. I'm all for having them both at differnet times. I agree it will allow those with enough vacation time and money to attend both. Those that don't will have to make a choice. Distance likely being the deciding factor at that point. Once things get rolling in the MCG members will be able to vote on all of this. It may take some to to see this all to fruition. It will happen....:)

This has got to stop, it's getting old. Make up your mind! Roundup or The Gathering....you can't have both, one will be just as good as the other!
Good Luck Nick!! I'll be there for you.

    Why?

Thanks for clearing that up Lance, makes sense. I just hope that in the future the dates will allow for folks to attend both events.

I'm throwing out a hypothetical here....lets say the events were scheduled a month apart...honestly outside of Ray Parrish, who could go to both events?
It costs me 2500 dollars to attend this year.
It was all I could do to afford FFW in Atlanta in April and then Roundup in July.
Let's here from all those that can afford to do both?!?!

Nick your gonna do a great job in hosting 07' and I'll make a prediction right here and now...your gonna draw more Mav/Comet owners than any previous Roundup...never worry over the things you have no control over:bouncy:

I know I could go to both. Especially if they were an entire month apart...

 What Rick says has some truth to it Nick...You will draw many people to this roundup. It is somewhat centrally located (even though it is on the east coast) and close to our nations' capital.Which I would like too see and plan to visit,when/if I get to go. My work will more than likely transfer back to West Virginia. I'm sure there are many others that feel the same way.You will do great hosting the roundup.....Think positive and you will come out on top:bouncy:

Jamie, not trying to sound mean but you haven't made it to a round-up yet so you have no idea the cost of attending one. Don't get me wrong, would love to have you there and meet another mav/com person face to face. Just saying that until you attend one and know the cost of time and money it would be rather hard for you to state that you can make 2 a month apart, or anyone else out there. If you have the time and money maybe the future will be great for you, and I applaud all those that can do it. Maybe some day.

i personally would like to go to both. anywhere there's a group of mavericks i'd like to be included. i could not go if it was a month apart. if it was only a week apart i might be able to finish one and go to the other. but to come home and go back is just not possible, especially if there both back east. nick, i wish i could be there to support you, but in any case i think you're going to have a great roundup. i know that because you're one heck of a guy and i know you'll give 110%. just keep on planning and it'll all come together.

I could attend both but seriously doubt that I would. It just cost too much. Add to the fact I like to attend the NPD show in FL in Jan, I just don't see it.

Heh, yea, I think I do know. You don't know what else we do besides Mavericks... ;) Every year in June, I go to Rockford, Illinois for the Vintage BMX meet put on by vintagebmx.com. I also go to Kart-Fest every Febuary put on by the WKA, which is for people into Karting. It is in diffrent places every year. Both of these events are as big or bigger then the Round-Up and last around 4 days. The only reason I have not attend Round-Up is because I had other obligations this year, as I stated on several threads. I also go to Indianapolis at least twice a year. If you search, you could probably find where I talked about going to these events last year, but no one seemed to care so I haven't really mentioned them on this site this year. It is not hard for me to state at all, as I do things like that all the time. And it is much easier for me to get 4 or 5 days a month off, then try to get an week + off in one month to attend a couple of events. That's why I said it would be even better if they were a month apart. I have been traveling and attending national meets for diffrent things basically my entire life..

Nick, you know I love you :)

You are going to do an excellent...first class job on the Round-up. No doubt in my mine :yup:
As hard as you try, you cannot control everything (been there tried that) you can only plan, prepare and pray :D (been there done that).
I am not saying the Round-up will suffer due to the recent events, not saying it won't. I will say that you will have a lot of new faces at the Round-up in 07'. Location is very important to who does and who doesn't attend...I believe more so than having conflicting dates. (and the MCG is working on that)
I am very sorry that this is happening with you hosting the Round-up in 07'. You and I have had many talks about this (MCG) over the last couple years and you know what is going on :)

Again, you will be fine....and the Round-up will be a huge success. Just remember......"a bird flies, because it can"
