Same idea here in Ontario, but I get my cars oiled, there are these shops around that thats all they do, spray your car inside and out with a non drip oil, I did my 74 when I bought it, and there is still oil on the floors 15 + yrs later.
I got several systems in the late 70's for free. I put them on a new 79 t-top TBird and owned it till late 90's. Live in Pa, snow and salt belt. Snake oil, body rusted, saw some alot worse then mine. I always did try and wash car often paint and underneath. I think that is why I had less rust than most. In fact the wires and anodes rusted away. Always checked blinking light to make sure it still worked.
Well, I guess the general concensus is they either work or they don't. Some good points here on both sides of the topic. Currently advertised at Canadian Tire here for $200. Did you happen to notice if it caused any radio interference, or interfered with the electrical system in general?
Could it be that your lack of maintainance to the system caused your problem. Just a thought. If you let the wires go to heck, why would it work? I just find it strange that an unproven product would find so many commercial and govt installs if it didn't work. I have never seen care instructions for the systems, but I imagine there are some. So like anything else, if it breaks, you must fix it or blame yourself if it fails. My .02 Dave
Yes I did check the system. I had already done some body repair, lower front fenders, bottom doors, back quarters, and torque rods with slight frame repair right in front of them. Changed my life style and car sat 1 1/2 years before selling, when I went to sell I rechecked all out and that is when I saw the corrosion. Before car was parked all was checked and battery was kept charged. Goverment and ships I think use a different and more anodes. It sounds like a good idea, just did not work for me, even though I kept the system up.
