Depending on the age of these rims, they might be Magnesium instead of aluminum and true "Mag Wheels" will oxidize(dull) very quickly. If the rims feel like they are lighter than most aluminum rims then it is a good possibility that you have true Magnesium wheels. I know this because I had a set of Fenton mag wheels on my '67 Cougar and they were a constant chore to keep them shiny. A lot of these tips these guys are telling you is helpful, but I would save my money and buy the new type of Ansen slot rims from American Racing that come super shiny for a long time. However, if your budget is limited then go for it and be proud of them. I know how you feel if you did, because I still have mine and one day I will put them on my Maverick.

    Thought the same thing.

Magnesium wheels can look greenish when tarnished. Also, check to make sure that there aren't any spacers that go between the lug nuts. Some alloys of magnesium reacts to steel or iron alloy.

Those new Ansens don't look like the old style slots though. They do not have the proper backspace to create the "deep" look, so if that is what you are after they won't work. If you want old style, check these new wheels by SLT:

i would not ...sandblast...them :tsk: not if you are looking for the ...chrome...look. glassbeading if they are real bad. wet sand with 1000-1500 grit paper or the steelwool as suggested. expect to put some time into this with any option you choose...:yup:
you can get a center for them about any place that sells rims...

on my chrome cragar street stars i didn't like the centers so i got a set of welds centers and put Dans' maverick emblem in the center...

American Racing Wheels is making the Ansen Sprints now. You may want to contact them to see if replacement caps are available.
