This is someting I do not want to do. At most, I would ask for donations.

Stefan; If it wasn't for the MMB, I would still just have a nice little 6 cyl. lime green daily driver instead of a garage full of disassembled Maverick for the last 4 years!!! Just kidding, of course. While there IS some truth to this (I would never have started this restomod project without the bottomless source of info that is the MMB) I wouldn't have it any other way.
I agree with the idea that the MMB should be free, but that doesn't mean that I wouldn't be pleased to help sponsor it if necessary. Let us know what you need. I get the sense from the responses so far that you have massive support. Again, let us know what you want to do. Thanks so much for all you've done.
    Sincerely; John B.

First let me start by saying stefan you do an excellent job at what you do and you have an awsome site. but i to think it should remain free. does it really have to be a .com or .to or .org why not try one of the free sites like hypermart or yahoo or something like that. but if it comes down to haveing to pay then you can count me in.

This site outgrew the free providers long time ago. The key feature that even some paid providers do not offer is SSH. SSH is like a MS-DOS prompt which allows me to navigate through the file system and run system programs. In order to run a database backup, I need to have SSH access. Everytime there was a database corruption, which occured frequently during the past several months, I would take a backup before attempting the repair.

Yeah I'd like to say thanks too to you Steph. I have meet a few great people here on these boards and made a few enemies as well… lol…. I also understand that this type of thing takes money as well as a lot and I mean a lot of time to take care of. I myself work on a site that needs continuous updating at least 4 times a day! Do I get paid for it? No and Yes but I do it for the people and the person that I do the site for. As for my own maverick site… hey I fork our 9 bucks or so just so I can have the name. Why? Well again because I like to.

I wouldn't mind supporting you steph however I think it would be better if you some how got MCCI members to pay for part of it within the yearly fee as some others have suggested. Maybe MCCI can offer them something a little extra like key chains, t-shirts etc people would support it. If you need free stuff like t-shirts and other things let me know.

I really believe the mmb should be free to help grow a car that has no place in most places. If you charge for it you will lose the effectiveness of this board as well as drawing new people in to Mavericks (remember what happened to other boards?) Anways before I though I was like the only stupid guy building Mavericks in southern Cali cuz I never saw any. Ok well, maybe I saw one or to here and there but the people weren't die hards! But now I know there are and I have met several of them in person. We have been able to shoot the bull and it just really neat to have someone with the same interests as you.

Do what you have to do just let us know when and where.

    Thanks again!

or how about this... lose the archives that are over a year old and then just some how... i don't know how but put them on a cd. Then if people are intrested in the older information.. they can buy it! sell it for like 2-5 bucks or something. i'm sure people would buy that for a years worth of info. this way you would be able to free up some space on the server. just my 1 cent of advise.

Put on your list. I'm also involved with a Falcon club and our chub site is just an earthlink deal that is ok, but not real good. Lemme know what we can do with you and help keep this site going. We have run into the same thing with TFFN for Falcon guys.

Let me also say what a great job you do Stefan! This site has been so helpful to me. I, too, would be willing to pony up a check to keep it going as is. I also agree that the site should stay free, because, as someone else said, if it was a pay site, when I was first looking for info I would have passed on it.

Stephan, The praise is the same, this is a fantastic board, when I found this one a couple of years ago I felt I new pretty much everything on these cars (owning them for almost 22 years), but I was wrong. Everyday I get on the board there is a different topic being asked, and it is interesting to watch and learn more. Like all others on this board I will support this board, so count me in on the $65.00 a year. Just let me know when and where to send it. And while I am at it I ought to join the club too. Thanks for everything, Chandler aka blownmaverick:D

If you need a donation, count me in, too. I would love to help keep this board going free of charge. As everyone said, thanks for all your hard work. This board enabled me to finish my car. THANK YOU!

As to most dilemnas, there is usually a solution. I think that it is plainly evident now that we, as a whole, will not let this site become a fond memory. Stefan, you are dealing with the issues on your end and will come up with the most cost effective formula to make this work, I'm confident. On our end, we have to decide individually what is our best contribution, either a site subscription for our businesses, etc., or a donation regularly to defray operating costs, or whatever is needed to keep this site whole. Personally, I'm glad to see the support from all of you and I'm especially glad to see the kudos to Stefan. There's been all too many "slams" on the several internet medias we have used over the last couple of years that it is refreshing to see the unity. Let's face facts, friends...we are different people from different places bound by a similar tie, our love of a certain species of motor vehicle. We will disagree and maybe on occassion, make someone angry with something said, even if it was never intended to be that way. This is just part of the human condition. Right now, I'm more proud than ever to be associated with the Maverick/Comet community. In this region, our cars are becoming more and more recognized as is MCCI. There were at least 6 Mavericks racing at National Trail Raceway in Columbus this weekend and they put on a great showing in Pro Eliminator. You should have seen the orange/white beauty in the exhibition class! Let's keep on supporting Stefan and his fine work and even more importantly, let's keep supporting each other regardless. I'm confident this board will survive and thrive, especially with the responses I've seen here.

stephan, you can count me in too. i don't post a lot of tech stuff as there's a lot more informed people on this board than me. but i do read it every day that i'm in town. it's a wealth of info that i do not think can be duplicated. thanks:)
