The back up light switch is mounted on top of the steering column down by the firewall. The plastic piece sounds like a vacuum switch used to operate the heater/ac controls, but I'd have to see it to be sure.

I was woking on mine last night, there are four wires on the switch, as far as I can tell from my wiring diagram, the 2 on the left (top and bottom, are for the setbelt waring buzzer) and the 2 on the right (top and bottom) are for the reverse lights, the switch is a pain to get out, I think there are 2- 5/32" bolts holding it in place.

I've found the problem with my reverse lights, at sometime someone added a power outlet to run a cell phone or whatever?? anyways they took the power off the lighting circuit for the radio, this is what feeds the reverse light switch, they cut it and fed the power outlet, easy fix for me, hope you get yours fixxed up.

OK...now I did it. After reading this thread, I decided to go out and see what this switch looks like on my 75 Grabber. I put my hand up there and felt the switch. Started feeling around to see the wires and whala....the switch fell down. Now I can't get it back in there to stay. I noticed that there was a lot of electrical tape around the area. Is that how they kept it on top of the steering column or did someone jury-rig it? The switch will not snap in like I would think it would and yet, there doesn't seem to be any broken tabs on the switch. When will I ever learn my lesson so again, if it isn't broken.....don't fix it.
