The mav is gone but i'm still here!
I'm pretty sure the 250 and 302 used the same 3 speed,I would highly suggest to go to a 4 or 5 speed;)

They are the same transmission and are pretty strong.

whats the ratio of the 3 speed i have a t-5 but from what i heard the t-5 can only handle 300flb of torque and the 351c is between 300-380flb and that stock form so will the 3 speed hold up?

I don't know what the torque rating is on the 3 gear but, I have done some terrible things to one and it held up just fine. The problem with the t5 is the aluminum case. It warps under high torque and can spit parts out. There are modifications that can be made to significantly improve the t5 but for the cost you should buy a TKO or something similar. The 3 gear is a lot like the legendary 4 speed top loader. A thick iron case holds all the parts in real well. If you do break one it's usually a stripped gear and not a cracked case.

the 3spd (auto C4) is really strong, its a known racing tranny, It shifts fast (with a shift kit) and can handle a lot of torque. Like other people said a stock T5 is really week and not good for racing.

The 3.03 3-speed was used in everything, including big blocks.
