Today was a good day. I started taking the Mav apart around 11:00 am this morning. As I was taking the fan out I was thinking, I still have a few beers left that need my immediate attention.:drink: Well, I skipped that temptation and kept removing the belts, pullies, radiator and then I could see I was getting close.
I had to rent a harmonic balancer puller then buy a set of Bolt-Out's from Sears. I highly recommend the Bolt-Outs. They work like easy-outs.. But anyhow, the manual is pretty good, but removing the oil pan was a pain, I had to remove the ideler arm and starter. I have the new timing chain and gears in, tomorrow I will put the car back together. I hope, the Mav gain's 100 hps with this modification. :rofl2: Next mod will be remove the power steering and make it non-power steering. That should be good for another 50 or so!:rofl2:
Then build a 1/2 inch spacer and move the A/C mount to ready the engine for the header.
That should be it for the Engine.
Then finish adding the door seals and start working on getting the A/C working. Oh, yeah I need to get the rear quarter panel replaced and repaint the car.
Then any other major junk that come's up.
This is a great never ending project.

did you remove the oil pan to change the timing chain? i did not have to on mine.
i also did not have to modify my ac mount for my headers.

    Hi Fan2488,
Do you have a 200 or 250? I have a 250. Yes, I did remove the pan, now it's all back together and runs great. But, with all good things, now for the bad news, i have a small oil leak. So when I pull the power steering I am going to remove the center link and remove the pan again and seal it to the bottom of the engine.

Today I worked on the Mav. Awh yes, some people paint, some people watch football and me, I work on the Mav. My theropy!

Today I bought a harmonic balancer repair sleeve from NAPA and rented a harmonic balancer puller from Advanced Auto. 3 1/2 hours later no leak!!!!

If you want any info for what I did, please write. I am not writing all that up, because most people have already done it and I'm tired.
