do you remove the knobs on the heater control levers ???:huh:
Want to put the replacement heater control cover on and can't get the knobs off ! I've pulled by hand. I've wrapped the lever with cloth and put channel locks behind the knob and pulled... nothing, they won't budge.

They usually just pull right off for me...

If you have a real stubborn one that you are planning to replace anyways, I have heard of using a lighter to heat them almost to the melting point and pulling it off with pliers.

Sneak some long needle nose behind the knob and use channell locks for leverage and pry:smash:

    Agree
Cut the thing off!! But if you want to save it, try soaking it down in WD-40 then use the vise grips (behind the lever) and pull. I have done this a couple of times with good results. Old age sets in and the plastic won't let go. You have to help it!

I have pulled 100's of these and once in a while you will get some that are tough. Genes idea of getting behind it with 2 tools for leverage is a good idea. I have an old pair of hard plastic spark plug wire pliers that fits nicely behind there. What you want to do is push it from behind, so it pops off, rather then grip right on it. Gripping on it will leave pliers tooth marks in the chromed plastic.

needle nose vise grips on the metal part then I use this snake tongue looking tool behind the knob to pop them off.

 Must be nice !! Mine are currently soaking in PB Blaster (hoping the chrome doesn`t eat away). Next step is to heat up the arm.

Put a wanted ad down in the classifieds - I'm sure there are a bunch floating around here on the board. Ebay has them all the time too.
