I leave my Mav in Atlanta for a week at a time. This is the first night I have driven it home with this carb configuration. I pumped the pedal once hit the starter and boom, it started and idled just fine. Remember, there is no choke in this carb. Then the plesant supprise it ran great home. Next the header. Ken
No problem, I have a 76 Mav with a 250 and C4. The car had a YFA 1 bbl that, in my opinion was a crappy carb for the car. It would stall out around hard cornering on, on ramps. Then I bought a Carter RBS 1bbl carb off EBAY for $15.00. Replaced the YFA with the RBS the engine started the car no problems. I added a rebuild kit and a K&N filter and now I'm hauling arse around corners and looking to gain more power and torque to have fun. My whole engine project consists of a RBS carb rated at 215cfm, a 70 timing chain and gears and 6to2to1 header. Then tune the daylights out of it. With a 2.75 gear, it will never nor is it intended to be a quarter mile killer. Just a fun jap car harasser! Ken
That sounds cool...I will continue to watch and ask questions from time to time...I have a 250 and its fun to learn about these little motors.
Yep, I swear by the RBS. I just gave away an almost new YF off the 200 I put in my '69.5 and am putting a rebuild kit in a spare RBS I have to go in the car. They are great carbs.
My Sprint came with a YF and it was a great carb. Never had a problem with it. However, my 71 170 's yf is crap. I have tried rebuilding it and even bought a couple more, one of them supposedly new. Tried rebuilding a second one. They are all crap. Even took it to a buddy who is very knowledgeable about carbs and he couldn't get it to run right either. Haven't tried a RBS but I think I will try to find one. Anyone have a complete one they want to sell.?
