The NC Highway Patrol has their main garage here in Raleigh.
For exhibition purposes they keep older patrol cars and restore
them. They have more than what is shown in these pics.

1 pic is of a 64 Ford. It looks mint and I assume it is equipped
    as originally in service.
I have seen it as well as the 40's vehicle up close before.
I can't remember what that is.

The 2 mustangs are 5.0 cars. One is a late 80's or early 90's
coupe. They came with dash mounted strobe lights and were
marked as this one is or unmarked.

The other one I saw once before at a show, it was a seized
or donated vehicle, can't remember which. It is an '83/'84
GT conv. Mustang. It is unmarked with only blue lights, radio and radar.

I have also seen a 66/7 Ford with a 428. They used Chryslers
in the early to mid 70's. They have had a long history with Ford, mainly using them for the past 20 yrs.

Now they have Crown Vics, the majority. Z28's and Tahoes.

    You must have served?

    Did you?

    I believe the '64 Ford is a 390 car.

They have about a dozen or so according
    to their website pics.

That is really cool. I have intentions of putting together an old police car after I can find a "plain Jane" 4 door Ford or Mopar. I just obtained an old "bubble gum machine" light along with a consignment of antique ambulance lights and sirens I'm selling for someone. There's a couple of national clubs that promote restoration of old police cars, fire trucks, ambulances, and hearses. It's getting popular now just as restoring our Mavs seems to be. I invited the local chapter of the Professional Car Society to the Western Pa. meet this Saturday and hope they can attend. Maybe I'm biased because I'm in public safety, but the old emergency vehicles are really great.

thats pretty sweet, i love police cars, there are some neat ones around here, a few 5.0's and someone has an early 60's ford... i think there should be more old police cars restored.. i always wanted to turn my first car into an ambulance. it was a 68 chevy panel truck. i couldn't find and good pics of them till after i got rid of it though :(

wes were you affected at all by the city budget mess?

Not personally....yet. It's just very ugly now, worse than the public is being told. It's not a very nice place to work for now.
