I am have almost completed installing the B&M shifter in my 71 Mav, but I'm not sure where to look to hook up the neutral safety switch. I was able to hook up the backup lights, but need help on the neutral safety switch. Please help.
Gene,, It has been awhile since I have installed one of them, but search the B&M website for tips. Dan
there is a wire that runs out of the stock neut sw and goes to the s terminal on the solenoid on the fender. that wire needs to be wired thru the neut sw on the shifter, if you still want to start with the key. i didnt want key start, so i ran a keyed wire thru the shifter neut sw and thru a pushbutton mounted on the shifter cover, to the s terminal on the solenoid. to start, i turn the stock key to the on position and press the button on the shifter cover.
the wire you are looking for is red with a blue stripe. You can find this wire coming from the ignition switch on top of the steering column partway between the steering wheel and the floor...or on the factory neutral safety switch at the base of the steering column...
Great tip Mark. I found it and got it wired up. Works like a champ! Saved me a bunch of time poking around for it. Thanks!
