Remember, that one that Rick Book took pics of a month or so ago...?

    This should refresh your memory...http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=23245&page=3&pp=20&highlight=yard

Well, I was supposed to go that day, in fact, I was "coordinating" that trip, but the wife's car needed work, so I wussed out, and Rick had a great time without me.

Well, I am going to try it again this Friday. I think my buddy in the 'hood is coming (maverickidd, I think that is is "handle" on the forum).

I have a shopping list, and hope to buy at least half of it...

    Anyone else wanna meet there?

The temp is supposed to be 98, so I will get there early, and get out with my stash (y)

Sure, I'll be right over. Not. :rofl2:

Good luck. I get the same feeling now going to junkards that I did when I was little and we were going to Toys-R-Us. ;)

I always had a strange fear of Toys-R-Us, almost like a reverse claustrophobia. Kinda hard to explain, but I like to get my toys from much smaller stores.

Maybe that explains why I work psychology with kids now that I am an adult

Sorry you can't make it, Jamie. You would probably have found the best parts at the best prices for us

Hey, do me a favor; let me know if you run across any 65ish Comets. Just want to know where some are in case I need some parts.

I know where there is a 69 Torino near work if anyone is interested. REally nice looking, mostly straight, looks like stock interior and in good shape.

Can't see what is under the hood. If anyone is interested, PM me and I will get the phone number for you.

We have gotten off topic (not even mav/comet anymore). Hopefully we don't get booted :evilsmile

I will look for them and see if I can't get some off.

If not, what are they for? If they serve no real purpose, I will yank mine off and give them to you. I like to take of anything that doesn't really serve a purpose.

I would guess they keep the disks free of road debris, or keep dust going to the outside of the car rather than toward the intake...

Not much here, you can move along.

This place is pretty bare. What is left is pretty crapped out. There are a couple of 74+ fenders in good shape (I was looking for an earlier one with the notches cut, and got one from 924 Mav on the way there today, which happens to come from the exact same car I got my other notched fender from, long story...).

I did score 2-1/2 sets of clean and straight front window chrome. I will use a full set after I paint and hold the rest in case of loss or if someone else needs them. Guy quoted me $10 per PIECE (that would be $60 per set) and I laughed in his face, said they weren't worth anything near that. He then settled on $25 per set if I pull them off myself. I called fan2488 and asked if that was decent, since I couldn't find the parts in my Autokrafters catalog. Decided that they are a little hard to find, so paid $50 for 2 full sets, plus a couple of other straight and shiny pieces that would make at least 2 full straight and shiny sets. Does this sound like a good price (Jamie, you are not allowed to answer...the stock in your area is MUCH better and you could have gotten a full set for $2.50, so your answer doesn't count :p )

There was also a 5-lug 8" rear or two, but not too high in demand. One front valence was re-useable, but not perfectly straight.

Coolest thing...I was looking at what was left of a mav that 924 mav cut the front off of, and a 7' long rattle snake, big around as my arm, jumps out at me and chases me a ways. I said a couple of curse words as I did a few back flips and got away from there. Turned around and noticed that there was a little baby cottontail rabbit running away at the same time. The snake must have been sneaking up on the rabbit, I startled the rabbit, and we all began moving quickly when we encountered each other. Best exercise I have gotten in a few months :rofl2:

Otherwise, it was just interesting to look at some of the old cars. Also, all the turn signal cams were shot, the main reason I went in the first place...

Man, lucky you. I'm not afraid of snakes, but I wouldn't be too fond of that. We have them here in NE Oklahoma, but they are fewer and farther between. Good thing too, as I'm prone to shinney up under cars looking at rear end tags. Coming face to face with a 7' rattler under there and I might have a bruise all the way down my back getting out, and a loaf in my shorts.

Jamie, I told you your comments were not welcome here  Those prices make me sick.

If gas wasn't so expensive, I would drive out there and visit your yards, and load my truck up with trim, turn signal cams, anything else small enough to throw into the back of my truck, then come back to TX and ebay it all. I would never have to work a REAL job again.

As for snakes, I am not SCARED of them, but I also don't like them to sneak up on me, or jump out at me, for that matter. If I had seen a rattler from 20 yards away, I would have slowly approached, especially if we had made eye contact, and we weren't going to startle each other, but to have one almost as long as the car jump out at me...I need :drink: :drink:

AND, I am not exagerating about being almost as long as the car...the front half had been cut off, so it WAS a short car

I was up under my grandpa's '73 Cadillac Coupe DeVille looking for a place to hook a chain to it when a damn big ol' possum came down from above the trans and started comeing towards me. Needless to say, I about knocked myself silly trying to get out from under that car! It came walking out from under the car and started going towards my aunt that was standing there. She jumped about 5 foot in the air and screamed. We all gotta good laugh out of that. Luckily I haven't came face to face with any snakes under a car yet. With my luck, it would be a big copper head or something. :yikes:
