Does it cost an arm and a leg to have sombody do this for you? I eventualy plan on doing this, having the body on a roticery and having it blasted and stripped, fixed, painted, rechromed. ext.

it'll cost 5 to 10 times what your car is worth. This body and paintwork you see here is about $13k worth of work, though I got a better deal on that, but not by much. this doesn't include ANY mechanicals, or interior. Now, I did have "some" rust and a TON of dings and waves, but this is a so cal car, so I do believe it may still be in better condition than many of the back east mavericks. Expect to spend 15-20 grand, but expect a show piece.

this sure as hell ISN"t taking a year is it?!!! Damn, I better save quicker!

Maybe it's just the picture, but it looks like it's to "pointy" at the bottom just behind the rear wheel.

i noticed that pic looks funky too, I'll take a better look in person, as that picture is a little distorted from the downsizing (see the ripples on the bottom). It's probably ok.

you should have watched this guy at work. the replacement section actually came from a wrecked 02 mustang gt. he cut out sheetmetal from it, welded, shaped, and put it onto the mav.

I have a website, and I just upload all the pics to my website, then copy that link, and put the link between two image tags, for example [IMG]

an easy way for most people, research the word "picturehosting" and you'll find web sites that allow you to upload your pictures. Some for free, some for a small fee, then you use all those to upload your pics, then post the links such as what I have done. I usually resize them all to 800 x 600 before uploading them, or the picture will be so big you'll have to scroll from side to side and up and down. if you need a good program that resizes pics for free, use microsoft photo editor, it comes for free on every copy of microsoft office, if you have an office cd. Just explore the contents, then install it.

Hey jeremy..I am currently involved in doing a resto on my mav, you can see some of the pics of my car on this forum. I was reading this post with my boyfriend who is doing the resto on my car. He actually works at a restoration shop, and does this same kind of work..He used to work out of a place called 'Final Finish' in Ct that did many of the callaway corvette twin turbo body kits. A very reputable shop, just to give you some background on him...

He is actually used the same filler on my car, and said that the shop that is doing the work on your car looks to be very comprehensive, the only thing he would have done differently himself was to put the car in a coat of epoxy primer first. In order to have the most corrosion resistance. But overall your car looks to be coming along great, and done well....Congratulations..I know what you are feeling right now...I have been so excited the past year working on this car...I am finally getting some satisfaction, and got to see it go into paint..

I am sure that nobody on the forum meant to offend, but I thought you might like some additional confidence in the work being performed...I unfortunatly dont have too many pics of my car in that stage..he has been working on it alot while I am at work..(different schedules..)...But I am sure your car is going to look great!!!...its getting there already..everything has to get worse looking before it can get better!!!.. :D

Just an update, as I haven't posted in a few weeks. I cruised by today, and the car was stripped. no doors, no fenders, no hood, etc. They degreased the engine bay for me.

mon or tue I go over there to yank the drivetrain out of it so they can further clean it up and strip it down. I'll post pics then of it in the stripped down stage.

Thanks to you guys, you just confused me more in that other thread, paint engine bay body color or black. I "think" i'm leaning towards body color, but I'm still not sure yet.

the gt40p heads I was going to use wound up staying on my mustang, so, unless I can come across some gt40 heads on a good deal, I may just use some ported e7's that I have and upgrade in the future.

Have them spray it body color. Then if you decide you should have gone black, you can rattle can it.

I agree with Dennis. Much easier to make it black later then body color.
