So I got this Monarch rear end for my Mav but it has this "thing" attached around the pinion snubber area that hangs on both sides of the driveshaft yoke. Can anyone tell me what this is and what it's purpose is? Is it needed? I may just replace it with the 3rd member from my 4-lug axle. What do you guys think?

Unbolt it and throw it in the trash.

i have one on my rear end that i got from a granada.. i think it is a vibration dampner, since the monarch and granada were more of a nicer passenger car, they put it on to make the ride a little more smoother.

i havent messed with my rear end, excpet to remove the thrid member, but when i put it all back together, i am removing it. i dont see a point in having one on a future bracket car.

I can't see replaceing the whole third member just to get rid of that. I would just unbolt it and toss it.
