Hey guys... I recently purchased a four door 1976 Maverick. It doesn't have much power, it's only a 200 i-6. I was wondering if there are any cheap(y) mods I can do with this to make it go! Everyone is always like "Burn Em" and I'm like " I can't" Please help. Oh by the way, I eventually want to drop in a 302 V-8 but that's not going to happen anytime soon. Is that even a good idea? Please help me out, thanks!

Welcome! Rear gears are probably the most bang for the bucks. I dunno how to make the 200 do much more than cruise. A couple of degrees of ignition timing might squeeze out a 1/2 hp. I don't know about your emmisions laws but in Texas you could lose the converter. My car was a 250 ci to begin with and it was SLOW. The 2.70something:1 Gears really hurt it.

Yeah it's an automatic, I'm new to restoring old cars, which is what I want to do with this one, but I'm afraid I have to wait until I get back from England next winter to do so. Thanks for the tips and I will try to get some pics up asap.
