Went back to the old boneyard today, and went to check on the Granada with the disc brakes. A fresh set of tire tracks right up to it, and a freshly-stripped front end. I hope whoever sniped me on that gets crabs. Anyway, you snooze you lose, so I'll be scouting for another set. I know they're still out there. What I thought was a 9" housing in it wasn't after further review, so the trip was a bust. However, I counted 6 Maverick 2 doors, At least one Comet 4 door, one heavily-stripped 71 Grabber and a well thrahsed Comet GT (with a tree growing up through the engine compartment. I was going to get you guys the VIN, but Einstien brought paper and no pen, so that will wait until the next trip. I also tried to take a set of boomarangs off (all were pitted), but couldn't figure out the bottom part. There's a screw at the top; how in the world does the bottom come off? Also tried to pull a "fasten seat belt" light, but it was so dry rotted that it broke in a few places, even with me being careful. The bezel and red lens are in good shape, and I stuck that in my pocket, just for the sake of saying I got something out of the trip. Other than the 8 ticks that hitched a ride.

There is a nut you have to get from the underside. You can reach through the trunk to get at it.

It's near Owasso; I've mostly given up on the local "pull-a-parts". They've eliminated most of the good stuff, so I hunt down the backwoods salvage yards. You can still find some good stuff in them.

If either one of you guys ever want company on these salvage yard trips let me know. I just moved to Broken Arrow from Florida and would love to go in search of parts.

Crap! You know of Cagles! That place has been my second home for the last few years, though I haven't been there in about 9 months. I need to get back there and see what has been crushed, what hasn't, and what is new. I've gotten some great stuff from there. The one near Owasso is at 106th Street North and Memorial. Don't be too impresssed, as I think most big ticket Maverick things are gone, except some of the more mundane stuff (which is typically what you need). I might try to hit Cagles on one of the next couple of Saturdays. Except the 10th; it's the Mid-American Shelby/Performance Ford meet. I ain't missin' that.

I know when the price of steel went up they had some pretty good piles of flat cars....and some pretty good cars in there that were flat. I noticed they stacked up a bunch the last time I was there, and that was last summer. I usually hit it about once a month. I figured they'd flattened out a bunch of the good stuff. I might see if I can sneak in there Saturday morning. Is your Maverick going to be in the show? I'll be there Sunday morning for sure. I sometimes make the drags, but usually only for the swap meet. And most of the time it's just too !&%#$ hot to go picking through a lot of overpriced stuff. I typically look at the swap parts on Sunday AM at the car show portion when it's still somewhat cool out. Sometimes some bargains, but usually just stuff I don't need.
