    Linkage

I am now in the process of hooking up a floor shifter I pulled from either a pinto or comet, mounted it 2 yrs ago and just now getting around to linking it up:) Found the linkage from a pinto to work beautifully. Have a picture of the linkage out if you are interested.

Glad I could help!:) I will say that when I mounted my floor shifter 2 years ago, I had no clue what kind of linkage to use or where on the hump to mount the shifter so I guestimated. I have learned that I mounted it about an inch to far forward for my pinto linkage to be usefull, however a machinist friend can cut the linkage bar and put a threaded collar (similar to the one connecting the inner/outer tie rods) for ease of adjustment:D

    where to mount

when i had my 1st maverick we did the same thing.if you pull the carpet up there should be, not so much a knockout plate, but an outline where the floorshiftrer belongs.remember these cars did come from the factory with floorshifters.I just could not remember what i got my shifter out of.20 years is a long time ago.

    Floor shifter mounting

Mine did not have these marks, If I was to do it again, I would find the pinto linkage and use that as a guide for mounting the floorshifter.

Oh well, I tried clicking these but they didn't seem to work. Just search all forums keyword floorshifter or floor shifter, some good stuff.

My '73 had the outline where the floor shifter goes. Was a piece of cake. Not sure about 4-doors but can't imagine they're any different. To make it all work, you need the shifter shaft that mounts to the transmission, you have to drop the pan and valve body to remove and install it. All late '60s and early '70s Ford floor-shifters will work. Pintos, Mavericks, Mustangs, Torinos, Granadas, Mustang-IIs, etc...
