Compare Hooker 6901HKR and Summit G9031

Has anybody installed the summit headers with success?
    Either in a car with 302 or a 351

    The price is much better.:drink:

I have a 351W with 302 heads and cut towers.

    Which is better?

i put the summits on my sons mav. knew i was gonna cut them up a bit anyway, so didnt want to pay a lot in case i really mess them up. redid pipes by steering box, and 1 on the pass side. worked fine, then.

Thanks guys, I did a search, and found lots of conflicting information.

I think it's time to put up a monster thread about the "headers issue" something like "I put manufacturer header type # in my maverick/comet and I can prove it" and then pics and a small article...

    :drive:

It's funny though that Summit is advertising these headers in they're catalog and there are even installation instructions for the maverick on the website. I guess somebody must have told them that they don't fit.

i have the 6901's on mine. i took the tranny out last month and had to remove the passenger side. came right out from the bottom. if you need to take the drivers side out you have to undue the motor mount and lift the engine a bit. also if you have power steering you have to get the extension for it and you need to use a floor shift or modify the linkage.:)

Just what Dave said above - redo two pipes (cylinider 7 and 8) around the steering box and #3 on th passenger side. Then they fit like a glove after dimpling the collector around steerling arm. :yikes:

Short answer - NO. Stay away.

I also have FlowTech headers. No problems, and they have lasted over 6yrs. Not bad for $98.

Earl - Are you running a 302? broncoisl said he has a 351. Have you had success with a 351 and these headers or know who has?
