Dan's system is pretty cool, but not "cheap". Unfortunately, exhaust systems are not cheap anymore like they used to be. Turbo Mufflers and glass-packs are cheap, but pipe and labor are quite expensive. You may end up having to just "bite the bullet" & save up until you can get a decent system, unless you have a friend in the exhaust business...

I was looking at the galvanized EMT conduit at Home Depot the other day and I was thinking...Hmmmmmm..... could I use that galvanized pipe for a cheap exhaust system? I believe the pie measrued in at 2 -2.25" in diameter. Actually it was 2.125". I can't remember if that was I.D or O.D.

Any thoughts on the galvanized issue?

I know when you weld galvanized that you need to treat it a little differently than regular mild steel. I know it gives off some wild fumes too when it gets heated by the welder. Not sure if the exhaust will get it hot enough to "put off fumes" but it does look like a workable deal.

Bending it is a completely different story. The pipe looks to be a little thicker than regular exhaust piping.
