Have all the new parts. Just want some tips on replacing the upper A arm bushings. I see that the new ones have threads on the inside Is that the trick. Do I just crank one side and then the other or what? Thanks

This is not an easy job. Once you have the entire control arm out and clamped in a vice, you're pretty much right. I also advise replacing the shafts too if you're going this far. It would be a shame to go to all this trouble and put new bushings on worn out shafts.

But like I said, this is no easy job. You have to remove the shocks, coil springs, and the entire upper arm in order to be able to change these bushings. Not something to try unless you have the right tools and know what you're doing. Could be just a little dangerous. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. I have both a arms off. Yes I have new complete front end kit. Its obvious that these bushings are not like a chevy and others that I've worked on that just press out. Do I just put my impact wrench on the old ones screw them off the shaft each side?

No, don't use an impact wrench unless you are willing to take the risk of stripping the threads out of the a-arm. Just use a wrench and penetrating oil.

Also on the re-installation, I have had better luck with getting both sides started, then alternating from side to side trying to keep the shaft centered in the arm. If you tighten one side down first, you may pull the shaft to one side or the other and cause alignment problems or even a-arm to shock tower interference.

This is not a hard job, just make sure not to cross thread the bushings in the arm. And don't strip the arm.

    Good luck.

Thanks to all. Thats what I was looking for. The cars just a weekend driver. The first time I saw the car I was 15 yrs old and it was brand new and he would let me wash it. haha 3 yrs ago I bought the car and since have put 289 intake and much more stuff. but to get to the point, after I finish the front end should I have the front end aligned with the 50 series tires and wheels that I bought for the car. They're old keystone wheels and fit fine and look good too.

Yes, you should always have the front end realigned after any front end work.
