You ought to smell the oil in my supercharger. Anybody ever smell Catfish Charley cheese bait??? That is just about it... The pontiac dealer said I could change that oil myself, but he "strongly recommended" that I bring it in to have it changed, since they could suck it out with a pump and I wouldn't have to get any on me.
Yea, and my cousin threw his suit case in my trunk and blew the lid off an almost new bottle which is now all over my trunk. This is going to be fun trying to get that smell out.
O my gosh, of the few things that i have smelt in my short life as a car guy.... THAT STUFF STINKS!!!!Was helping my boss put the differential in his race car (not a mav... its like a 66 triumph or something) and we somehow dropped it, and it spattered that stuff all over me.. And i stunk!
We need to complain to the manufacturers and encourage them to add a bubble-gum scent to their oils, just so they don't stink so much. But, maybe, they add stink to it so only "professionals" (read "dealer techs") will work on them.
I'll 3rd that,if it's bad enough(i.e.your dipstick is showing more than normal)change the pump fast, gasoline is not a good lubricant.
simple but can be over looked, when starting up the car after sitting for a long time dumping gas down the carb will help to get it started but if it was too much and the car doesn't start there is no place for the gas to go but down (oil pan), alot of gas in the oil will thin it out and you have a good chance at getting a spun bearing check your oil again and if the smell is there again after the oil change clean and rebuild the carb it's cheap and easy to do if that doesn't solve it throw in a new fuel pump that's resonably priced and also easy to replace Good luck.
hmmmmm, thats gives me an idea..... a little mackerel, a little gear oil. I'll bet the steelhead go crazy for it .
