Just remember to upgrade the heavy wire that goes to the starter solenoid if you upgrade the alternator. The original wire that was designed around a 42 amp alternator isn't exactly going to be a happy camper when he gets 100+ amps put to it. Not that it'll charge that much all the time, but it's always a good idea to upgrade the wiring if you upgrade the alternator.

    (y) I called NAPA today. They have what I need. $93.00 is the right price for me. I love this forum. Thanks for recommending NAPA, this saves me money for the other stuff thats going on the car.

check and see if it takes an "exciter wire" ( you need the plug) some do, some don't. mine did but the conversion one wire i did this morning didn't. you should be able to get the plug from napa also...frank...:bouncy:

I went to NAPA this weekend to get the new alternator. It was way bigger than what I have & the guy there said it will not bolt right in. He said that I need a small case alt. & the 90/100 amp is a big case alt. Plus the wire will not hook right up either. Is this right? If so how do you put a big one on, I'm thinking by changing the brackets but I have no clue.
