Help! I have a 1975 Mercury Comet, automatic, 250, inline 6. I need a vacuum diagram to make sure the vacuum lines are correct. I have changed the egr valve, carb rebuilt, damper rebuilt, alternator replaced, and the car just will not idle right. It wants to die and idles rough. I do not know what else I can do. Thanks for any help.
There is a difference between air conditioning and non-air totaling 3 hookups. Which do you need? It's found on pages 38, 39 and 40 of volume 6 svc manuel. In either version the carb spark port goes to the 3way electric valve and the EGR port goes both to an inline bleed and to the temp controlled vacuum control valve. All it takes is a defective or reversed hookup to cause a problem. I can scan it for printing and mail it to you or try to e-mail the file. In the Chiltons Mav/Comet manuel sections on emmissions and fuel control is about the same information in a little less detail.
I have 1975 vacuum diagrams on my website. Here is a link: http://www.maverickcomet.com/Repair/RepairInfo/1975VacuumDiagrams.pdf The above PDF has diagrams for many cars, so you will have to scroll down to find the diagram you want. The file is about 700 kb so it may take a little bit to download depending on your connection...
Thanks, for the help. It has factory air. There is a brass log looking device where hoses come out of and to different parts of the carburator and egr, etc. Just not sure if they are going to the right places. I am trying to learn how to work on the car. Do appreciate your help. Thanks.
From Mav Marks site, you need dwg 29 or calibaration 9a or 9n.. Look at your engine and be sure you have all the hardware shown on the drawing and you all set. The factory changed these systems as time went on so you have to compair what you have.
Thanks for the diagram. Appreciate the help. Will compare it with the diagram and will let you know how it turns out.
