For those that race with a c4 tranny and a big horsepower motor, what type of valve bodies are you guys running? Thanks.

What would you consider "big horsepower"?

    600 is a street motor!

seriously, we use our own valvebodies...basically a stocker with a few mods. They work as well as any manual valvebody I've used, including my favorite, Fairbanks (old valvebody but it worked great!)

We usually build our own as well unless it's a reverse valve body or trans brake. :)

You might reconsider your choice of a c4 if you have 600+ horsepower .

But I agree with the above , generally the modifications you can do work as good as the aftermarket valvebodies.

JPT makes some of the best c4 stuff going and is considered the leader in Research and Development on the C4 Transmission!! I just switched to the billet aluminum JPT transbrake valve body and will keep you posted on it's performance!! A c4 can handle 600 hp easily if it is built correctly and is maintained properly!! Which means it will cost you some $$$$$.....don't listen to guys that say $200-$400 will get you the strongest c4 available, that's bull sh*t. To get a c4 that will handle those horsepower numbers on a continuous basis it will take much more money. I consider my c4 to be probably about as strong as you can make one and I still will tear it down at the end of each season, the end of this season will be the first time i've torn it down but i recently purchased a great manual and video and feel confident that i can freshen it up!! High maintenance for a high horsepower setup!!:D
