Does anyone have a good sloution to sloppy Hood Hinges. I would think a machine shop could maybe replace the steel rivets? Has anyone done this or have any other ideas? When I am running about 70 mph the back of my hood raises about a 1/2" about the cowl. Looks kinda cool but I think I want to fix this. Don't want my hood to fly up.

Mine does also ... I figure I get better engine compartment cooling that way .... :) I don't see how this would let you hood pop open though ...

Frank the hinges are adjusted properly. The hood is flush when sitting still. It only raises at 70 mph. When you slow down it drops back down. I think they have just gotten sloppy where the pivot points are.

Only time mine ever did that was when I was comeing back from the junkyard in my '74 after buying a Comet hood and only had one bolt per hinge holding it down. The hinges on that car were very well worn (had alot of side to side play) but it never lifted with all bolts in and tight.

My current hood hinges are worn out too... I have just been too lazy to replace them with any of the good pairs that I have around. :)

Lower your hinges a little and that should keep the hood from rising. Don't get it to low or the hood will the the cowl. Try that and see.

Try taking the hinges off, put one side against something real solid, and use a BFH to retighten the rivits

Mine would have to be re riveted then. They both allow the hood to rub the cowl hard every time. where can I get this done?
