Just thought I'd introduce myself. Just registered, found the site on yahoo. Lets see... I'm 18, I've got a '90 beretta GT (3.1/muncie), blown, that'll be sold in a few days, an '87 Camaro (2.8/T-5), needs headgasket, possibly head, may be future project (f/s $600). I had an '89 Integra, sold that, fun car though considering it ran high 16's (estimated, cone filter & cut off muffler, $21.20 with tax, just cuz it was funny). I'm into just about any kind of car, I'm considering getting a newer Integra ('00+, low miles) for a daily driver/winter car, maybe a project, that wont be for a while. Anyway, I've come across a '72 Mav I-6/3 on the tree, its cheap, I'm hoping its in good enough shape. My Dad had a '73 (orig. 302/auto) that he swapped a 351W from his '69 Cougar into, and eventually sold. I've always had a thing for these cars, no one knows what they are, not many people have them, and far less have done anything to them. They look bada$s, but most people have no idea if they are. I'd like to get a warmed over 302/toploader in it. I've wanted one for a long time and this is one of the few I've seen, so I hope its all good. So just thought I'd say hello. Steve btw, where can I pick up a reletively cheap, decent, floor shift?
Just thought I'd post a pic, this is the most recent one I've got, taken at my senior prom (5/20), the girl with me is Debra
glad to have you aboard. I'm sure you'll be pleased with the maverick. I'm 20, so its nice to see more poeple my age taking an interest in mavericks. besides my mav I'v got a turbocharged Audi quattro. I am planning on rasing the boost to 1.8 bar once I build a hybrid turbo for it. But I'm short on cash right now and I only drive it in the winter. Good luck with the car.
By the way, if you end up staying with the straight six, I've got a toploader that would be good for it. I'ts a 3 speed plus overdrive
welcome! a good bunch of folks here stick around and jump in with questions, comments what ever. there's a few guys in here your age .
hy man nice to see a nother mav on here before you dump the six go to www.fordsix.com and www.fordsixparts.com ethere way have fun with you`r new mav
Hey, thanks Some good stuff on those sites, I'll probably play with it a little, while building a 302/4-speed. I found the shifter, $40 and it's in stock. *fordsixparts.com , the pages aren't working (main page does), just random text (coding I guess) on the other pages.
welcome to the site, as it is real fun around here, out of all those cars, I am glad that you finally stumbled upon a keeper. That maverick 6 should be able to keep up with that 16 second integra, and it is 30 years old!
