electric fuel pump install

    1977 maverick 2 door ( my sons) 250 c4
    where is best spot to put a carter electric fuel pump...near the tank with a good filter or in the engine bay with a filter near the tank.after I get a tank installed, I wanted to run a good electric pump like a carter, etc...:D

    Electric pumps are 'pushers', not 'pullers'.
    That means they should be mounted close to the tank and push fuel forward.
    To mount them in the engine bay makes them pull the fuel too far to maintain the rated flow/pressure, and shortens the life of the pump.

    I have mine mounted in the rearend tunnel..behind the fuel tank. I figure it might help to keep the noise down a tad if it was mounted there...but it's still rather noisy

    Scotty,

    Seems like yours is mounted on the passenger side, when the fuel outlet on the tank is on the driver side (at least on mine it is). Is there a reason for mounting on that side, maybe noise or something? This will be one of my upcoming projects, including the braided line. Looks really good with all the correct fittings, and no hose clamps and black rubber line.

    My pick-up is at the center. And there was more room on this side. I agree, the braided line loks good and more importantly, it is safe!
