My dads 70 alfa GT came with a sump in the trunk and an electric fan in the tank, like modern in tank gas pump setups. the tank sat under the trunk in front of the gas tank and had hoses runing next to the fuel line to the engine. sounds like an aftermarket one could be set up like that much more cheaply than the systems used on the chevy sprint cars. keep in mind he used it as a daily driver for years.

you can use that on pretty much any car... it just relocates the oil filter away from the block so it helps cool the oil... i have seen that type of setup, although it was mounted on a firewall or apron panel...

I believe mine came from trans-dapt years ago,( I've had it for close to 20 years) I changed the rubber lines to braided several years back, not due to break down , just because I was upgrading everything else.

they are avalible from summit and jegs, and proably most any other parts place as well. I cant recall how much they cost, not too much tho.they use a PH-8A filter or equivelent.

nothing bad to say about them or bad experiances. makes filter access much easier, the only bad would be buying two filters and 3 extra quart of oil.

The only advice i have on remote filters: Mount it as low as possible there is less possibility of drain back, Make lines as short as possible for the same reason, and always fill filter with oil when changing oil, it takes longer for the oil to make it to the bearings ( especially on fram filters, ive had the fram filters collapse with a burst of oil forcing the air out).
As far as dry sump systems I dont recommend it for street use, its just not designed for that application.
