Pulled one of my heads today On my 83 351w. It was stamped D8OE. After reviewing the specs I found the heads to be 69cc with 1.78/1.45 valves. I'm wondering if I could use a set of D2OE's from a 72 302 with a 58.2 cc and 1.78/1.45 valves ?
Any advice or thoughts on this would be appreciated.
    Thanks, Darrel

Hint hint, look at the head bolt hole size of the 351 and 302 heads.

I measured the bolt holes, they appear to be the same. I think after a certain year the 351w used the same style head as the 302.

Opening up the holes is not a problem with the equipment available at work. Will there be a benefit to doing this swap ? Will the intake line up ok ? Will the compression acheived work ok with the stock 351w setup ?

if you use the 302 heads they are the same just the bolt size it will bump the comp up to around 9.75-1 will work fine with a mild cam :)

Just a thought...May want to clay it up to check piston to valve clearance. Dont know if its neccesary, but I would do it anyway. For sure with flat tops. I would also be sure to use new head bolts, Stockers are usually not reuseable. The intake should be fine since the difference is in the block deck heigth. Howz about water passages? Anyone know? Hope all this helps ya boss9.
