head rest?

    hey guys' is there anyway to remove the head rests in a 77 mav 2 door so i can put on a seat cover then put them back. and its a bench seat.

    I don't remember having to use any tools to remove mine. Been too long and now the seat is gone so I can't look at it again. Seems like they just popped off without alot of trouble though.

    thats what i thought' it pulls up easy enough then it clicks and stops

    Me and Terry fought with a headrest for a good hour and a half one day. We finnally got it out, but I don't remember exactly how. Seems you have to reach up inside the back of the seat and pull something.

    It was really stupid and easy once you got the hang of it, but takes you damn near forever to figgure it out.

    Two ways:

    Put a hack saw blade down the "shaft" of the headrest to trip the "catch" that keeps it from coming out. I believe it is the front.


    Or


    The easy way....jerk up on it real fast and it will pop right off.

    only problem with the second way is that then you have to fix the dent in the roof. i'd try the first.:biglaugh:

    thanks guys ill give the saw blade a try really dont need to hurt thumbs right now. ill let u know if it worked:)

    ok i went down and decided to try a quick pull on it and it came right out thanks for the info' now if i can find some covers for the head rest or just change them out with some black ones any ideas where i can get them?

    thanks Earl i keep that in mind in case i cant find some black ones with all the people selling parts on here shouldnt be to hard to find some
