backlash

    how much backlash should you have in a 3:00 geared rear end?:huh: when i jacked up my car today by the rear chunk the back wheel looked to turn too much before turning the yoke on the driveshaft. :yup: ...frank...:bouncy:

    New they are supposed to be set at .008. Thats barely detectable by feel.

    I'd be surprised if the backlash is out of spec. The slack you are getting is probably the result of side gear/pinion gear(spider gears) wear or the pinion shaft itself. If the driveshaft is out you can lightly rock the yoke back and forth and feel the gear backlash.
