I just had to gloat a little. I had the last few days off work to get the garage all cleaned up so I can pull my cars in and have nice clean organized place to work on them. Anyways, my girlfriend had to work today and if I had time today I was going to start stripping my parts car down today, and she seemed a little disappointed. Here she wants to be here to help! I know some guys' wife or girlfriend do not always have the same interest in our cars like we do, but mine is constantly supporting and encouraging my hobby and likes to get involved with it! Not too bad eh? I consider myself pretty fortunate!!! :) :D

Yes you are a lucky guy Dave. Most of my female friends only know how to do two things with a car, put gas in them and drive them until they die. Hand them a wrench and they think your out of your mind. Come to think of it, they think I'M out of my mind. If I had to sit at a desk all day I would probably go postal. I love stomping through junkyards and tearing cars apart. Who cares if I break a nail. They grow back. I believe more women should learn how to care of thier cars and do some repairs themselves. Think of all the less than ideal mechcanics out there who will not have as many easy marks to ripoff. There is such a great feeling of satisfaction when you can do the job yourself, and that goes for the guys as well as the ladies. Besides, it's more fun when you can work together and enjoy doing the same things.

consider yourself lucky, as my wife can't stand my car hobby. She tolerates it because she loves me, but wants to have absolutely nothing to do with my cars

gosh you guys with GF's/wives that love cars are really lucky! I just split up with a girl I was dating for 2 years over my car hobby. She gave me the ultimatum, either take my cars or her...told her it was nice knowing her. Possibly the hardest thing I've done in a long time, but it was well worth it. She's got a very open mind and could easily learn a lot, but was not willing to learn about cars, etc and that combined with some other things really separated us. It's ok, though...there are more out there! Women, that is:D

Now mothers are a different story

    Mothers are a different story.
Not only do they have to listen to me talk about 'em all day,
she also has to finance it due to my studies.
Anyway, she could at least pat me on the back when I do something
relatively monumental for my standards!!! haha

Good thing I have my dad on my side!!!

You guys who have understanding wives should feel lucky. But to give you just a little more credit, at least you bring your wives/GF's into the picture. Many guys don't think it's a woman's place to know about cars and stuff. Luckily I had a Mom that was really into cars and so she taught me enough to get started and my boyfriend has taught me even more. So you are lucky but so are we!

Mine likes my car or at least thinks it is ok .

She always wants me to work on hers though , but there is a problem.
Dont tell anyone ,but it is a RICER . In fact it is a ricer with big rims , little profile tires and a great big stainless steel muffler on it . I dont like to be seen riding in it let alone driving it .

So it could be worse you guys . It could be worse . You could be me .

Hmmm...........Lets see My wife thinks the GRabber Blue Paint sure is Purrty.

Hmmm.....Jean Doll NOT all Automotive Technicians Rip women off I surely do not. In fact I have experienced most women ask to many qeustions to be ripped off. Then they go home and ask there husbands, there fathers, There Grand fathers ,There sons, I think you get the point :D Next thing I know I have 10 guys knocking on my bay door asking why I did this or suggested that.
Men are much easier to rip as they tend to shake there head alot like they understand all the automotive jargon that comes out off some mechanics mouths. I try to explain things as simple as possible. With the level of sophistication achieved with todays on board diagnostic systems sometimes that can be hard.

You do raise a good point there 1Badmav. I did not mean to imply that all auto techs are out to rip people off. My son-in law is also a master mechcanic for Volvo and he is the most honest auto tech I know. He would never rip anyone off. Having some automotive knowlege, asking the right questions and showing an interest in the repairs a car needs is vital, no matter if you are a man or woman. I recall reading an article about a sting to bust shady garage operators. A well dressed man would take a BMW just out of warrenty to a garage complaining that the car ran "rough" No other information, just "rough". He would give the impression that he knew nothing about cars in general, and asked very few questions. Two garages tried to sell him a new computer system. Another garage wanted to rebuild his engine. He went to 10 different garages and 7 out of the 10 diagnosed the problem correctly; cloged fuel injectors. It proved that shady techs. are still out there. Knowlege makes all the differance, no matter what your gender may be.

My girlfriend loves my Mav! Woohoo! Fact is, it's been in her yard for about a month now. Her dad is helping me do the I-6 V-8 swap. She also likes the 4 door comet. So, I feel lucky. Her dad's a dang good mechanic too. Kinduf an added bonus huh? Country
