Anyone ever seen the similarity between the 70/71 Mav bumpers and the 70/71 Pinto bumpers? Anyone ever try this change? Are they the same size? Hope you don't think I'm :coco: for asking.

I believe Maverick73 is running a Mustang rear bumper on his car.

Jamie is correct, I am running a 67/68 Mustang rear bumper, it did take some slight mods to make it work, I had to drill new holes in the factory bumper brackets, this will only work with 1973 Maverick bumper brackets, 70/72 Maverick bumper brackets will not work because the bumper must be pushed in closer to the body and the fillers at each end of the car prevent this because the Mustang bumper end openings are not large enough to accomidate them.

I bet the 1970-1972 Bumper mounts would work if you used the 1970-1972 lower rear quarter extensions.....which are smaller than the 1973 lower rear quarter extentions.

    Either way......I want to say:

The Maverick Bumper is wider than the Mustang so the ends will not quite line up in the center of the quarter extensions.

i made some brackets to mount the 67-68 mustang bumper. the mustang bumper is flush on the ends.mustang bumper not as tall as maverick bumper. changed mine back the fender extensions did not line up right. i do like the idea of being able to buy a rechromed bumper for under $100.00

I know nothing about Pinto bumpers, however the 69-70 Stang rear bumper looks very close!
I would have thought it too wide, but the rear valance is supposed to swap according to some that say they have done it...
